Troytown GreyAbbey was formed by the merger in 2013 of two very well established and successful veterinary practices: Troytown Equine Hospital, which was founded in the 1950s as a specialist horse hospital; and Grey Abbey a large mainly ambulatory practice with a companion animal hospital.

The practice headquarters are in the heart of Kildare, Ireland’s Thoroughbred County, and provides service to the Thoroughbred breeding and racing sectors, and the sport horse industries as well as serving all types of pleasure horse clients.

Troytown GreyAbbey is at the forefront of the development of diagnosis and treatment of equine injury and disease, providing top-quality cost-effective service tailored to every client and patient. The practice was the first in the world to report on performing standing fracture repair for horses – a technique which has been copied and developed further all over the world. The clinic has state of the art diagnostic, laboratory, surgical and treatment equipment including Nuclear Scintigraphy (Bone Scanning), standing MRI scanning, diagnostic treadmill and over-land video-endoscopy capability, digital ultrasound and radiography. The surgery and intensive care units are fully equipped for all procedures, including orthopaedics and colics, laser surgery and laparoscopy. Treatment modalities for injuries include shockwave therapy and the very latest class 4 therapeutic laser.

Alongside the facilities there is a highly experienced team of 18 veterinary surgeons, supported by a team of excellent veterinary nurses and support staff. Each professional has a particular interest from neonatal medicine, stud medicine, wind surgery, orthopaedic and poor performance investigations, and diagnostics.
